Grigor Dimitrov, making his comeback from the short break (shoulder injury), progressed to the final at ATP Rotterdam earlier this month, after securing straight sets win over the likes of Filip Krajinovic, Andrey Rublev and David Goffin (retired).

Dimitrov previously entered Dubai once in 2011 but lost his first-round match to Richard Gasquet after winning qualifying matches against two relatively unknown opponents, Al Balushi Mahmoud-Nader and Rik De Voest.
Jaziri endured a miserable 2017 as he finished the season with a minus W/L ratio (29/32) for the first time since 2007.
The start to the new season wasn’t good as he lost his first-round matches at Doha & Canberra challenger in straight-sets (Bedene and Fucsovics), he then went on to play two five-setters in Melbourne, winning one against Caruso before losing another in the second-round against Muller.
Malek Jaziri has appeared in Dubai every year since 2011 and progressing to the quarterfinal once in 2014 is his best result in this event.
