Philipp Kohlschreiber has competed at seven tournaments so far in 2018, and apart from reaching the quarterfinal at Indian Wells, he has failed to progress beyond the second round in any other tournaments.
Moreover, the World #16 suffered second-round exits at Monte Carlo in his previous three visits, losing to Stan Wawrinka in 2016, Roberto Bautista Agut in 2015 and Jo Wilfried Tsonga in 2014. He will now be hoping to avoid a fourth consecutive second-round defeat when he takes on Albert Ramos Vinolas this Wednesday.
Albert Ramos Vinolas has failed to win two matches in a week since finishing as the runner-up at Quito in the second week of February 2018. Last week at Marrakech, he lost his second round match (as the top seed) to Alexey Vatutin in straight sets.
