Dzumhur vs Wawrinka Tennis Betting Tips

Will the changing of the guard in men’s tennis be advanced in 2020? This has been spoken of for many years, but especially at the Grand Slam tournaments you have to take the “old guard” into account. Stan Wawrinka is one of the few players who has been able to break through the dominance of the Big Four in recent years.

However, due to injuries, Wawrinka has also had to cope with many setbacks in recent months. In the meantime, however, he feels in top shape again and is in good spirits for the “happy slam” down under. In the first round there is a duel between Damir Dzumhur and Stan Wawrinka.

The Bosnian is a player who can convince above all with his nimble footwork. The results in the last few months, however, leave a lot to be desired and Dzumhur only managed to qualify for the main competition by a thin margin.

In contrast to the previous year, Wawrinka is back (number 15) and is definitely expecting opportunities in the next two weeks. Despite a negative head-to-head balance, bookmakers have little doubt about the Swiss! For the duel between Damir Dzumhur and Stan Wawrinka, odds of up to over 6.00 are offered for the Bosnian.

Damir Dzumhur – Statistics & current form

Current position in the world rankings: 92.
Position in the seed list: unset

Winning titles in St. Petersburg and Moscow (both 2017) and Antalya (2018) ensure that Damir Dzumhur, who is now 27 years old, is the best Bosnian tennis player of all time. In July 2018 he was even in 23rd place in the world rankings and knocked on the door to the absolute top of the world. But in the past year and a half, things have not really turned out as desired.

Several minor injuries caused the Bosnian to step out of the game and keep struggling with setbacks. Since then, Dzumhur has not been able to match the performance level around 2017/18 and has been ranked heavily in the world rankings. A position around the top 100 is now his home in the tennis ATP world rankings.

After 2020 began with a defeat against Alexei Popyrin in Doha, the Bosnian was taken on the Challenger tour. The 27-year-old surprisingly had a lot of trouble against the no-names Dane Sweeny and Yosuke Watanuki.

In the quarter-finals of Bendigo, Andrea Vavassori, number 341 of the ATP world rankings, was finally eliminated. The Bosnian still lacks a good part of his former performance.

Its greatest quality is undoubtedly the outstanding footwork. The Bosnian is extremely agile and can dig up a number of balls as a defensive player. But when viewed soberly, he doesn’t have the weapons to take control of the rallies and pose problems for Wawrinka.

If “Stan the Man” finds a good mix of “aim lines” and “low error rate”, the game will only go in one direction. Similar to the previous year, when Dzumhur only booked four games against Gael Monfils in the first Australian Open round.

The ATP level is currently too big for the Bosnian. Realistically speaking, there will be a clear defeat in the night from Monday to Tuesday. In this respect, between Dzumhur and Wawrinka, a prediction for the three-set success of the Swiss is an interesting option.

Injuries prevent the former level of performance? What is the case with Damir Dzumhur also applies to a certain extent to the experienced Swiss. “Stan the Man” had to take a strenuous journey back and has meanwhile been able to establish itself again in the extended world top. Nevertheless, he was never able to continue the performance before his injury (two severe knee operations).

His breakthrough came six years ago when he was the big winner at the “Happy Slam” in Melbourne. The epic duels with Novak Djokovic are still unforgettable.

For Wawrinka coach Magnus Norman, this is also one of the reasons why the strong Swiss are still flying in Melbourne. And with this support in the back, the man from Lausanne already knew how to convince down under.

“I aim to qualify for the ATP Finals in London” – Stan Wawrinka

With Tomas Berdych, Marcos Baghdatis and Nicolas Almagro, three “year-olds” from Wawrinka ended their careers at the end of 2019. For the former number three in the world, the end of his career is far from an issue.

Rather, he still has ambitious goals at 35 and wants to be represented again at the ATP Finals in London at the end of the year. However, the 16-time tournament winner (most recently in Geneva 2017) has to celebrate success again.

At the beginning of the year, there was a quarter-finals against youngster Corentin Moutet in Doha. The fact that he had to play two games in one day was certainly a major disadvantage for him. According to his own statements, however, he feels in top shape, has good preparation in his legs and is in good spirits for the next two weeks.

The Bosnian should not be a hurdle at the start and therefore the tip between Damir Dzumhur and Stan Wawrinka on a clear success of the 2014 winner is recommended.

Last matches from Stan Wawrinka:

🎾 01/10/2020 – Moutet vs. Wawrinka 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 (Doha)
🎾 01/10/2020 – Wawrinka vs. Bedene 6-3, 6-4 (Doha)
🎾 01/07/2020 – Wawrinka vs. Chardy 6-3, 6-4 (Doha)

Dzumhur vs Wawrinka – Head to Head Statistics

Head to head: 2: 1

In direct comparison with the man from French-speaking Switzerland, the Bosnian underdog is surprisingly in the lead. The paths have crossed three times so far, with Dzumhur celebrating two victories. The last defeat was particularly bitter for “Stan the Man” – last May, Wawrinka had to surrender to the Bosnian in the second round in his homeland of Geneva.

Damir Dzumhur vs Stan Wawrinka Australian Open 2020 Betting Tips by PicksSoccer.com

Based on the direct comparison between Dzumhur and Wawrinka, the currently offered odds does not seem to be understandable. The Bosnian won two of the three games, but was at least one or two classes stronger at the time.

Wawrinka still has room for improvement and will certainly not be one of the favorites at the Australian Open in 2020. Nevertheless, in the first round there is no doubt about the outcome of the game. However, due to the current betting odds on the victory market between Dzumhur and Wawrinka, a prediction is not profitable. Only a little more than ten percent profit is offered for the Wawrinka victory.

Key facts – Damir Dzumhur vs Stan Wawrinka tips

⭐️ Dzumhur is in free fall – he will soon face the fall from the top 100
⭐️ In May 2019 Dzumhur celebrated a victory against Wawrinka in Geneva (clay court)

Wawrinka will be superior to his counterpart in all matters and will dictate the game. If he keeps his error rate in the normal range, the game will be over after three sets. Instead of a bet on the three-set success, we recommend between Dzumhur and Wawrinka given the odds the tip on the game handicap -7.5 in favor of the Swiss.

In an emergency, Stan could even allow himself a slight set loss, because as a setback he will come up with many opportunities and then one or two clear sets are not a surprise. We choose five units as stakes!
