Nikoloz Basilashvili is currently on a seven-match losing run and to make things worse, the Georgian was forced to retire during his previous two matches against, Jared Donaldson at Acapulco and Tennys Sandgren at the Indian Wells.
Basilashvili made a decent start to the season with a third-round appearance at the Australian Open, but the losing run soon started with shocking defeats against two lower ranked players in the Davis Cup (Amine Ahouda and Lamine Ouahab). Since then, he could not win a set in any of the four matches he has played.
Making his Miami Open debut in 2017, the 26-year-old Georgian lost his first round match to Tommy Robredo in three sets, 6-3 4-6 2-6.

Thomas Fabbiano registered only his second win of the season when he defeated Bradley Klahn at the Indian Wells earlier this month. The Italian then put up a good fight before going down in straight sets against Jack Sock in the second round.
Though Fabbiano has won just two matches from nine outings so far in 2018, his performance in most of those matches was pretty encouraging as he took a set of Filip Krajinovic and Damir Dzumhur after playing out a close three-set match against Alexander Zverev at the Australian Open.
The Italian is entering the Miami Open (debut appearance) after suffering a disappointing first-round exit at the hands of Petros Chrysochos in Irving last week.
