The German posted his best result of the season by finishing as the runner-up at ATP Munich last week. During the run, he met Roberto Bautista Agut (next opponent) in the quarterfinal and scored a dominant straight set win, 6-4 6-4.
Eight of Philipp Kohlschreiber’s last nine matches have finished in straight sets with him winning seven of them. The only defeat came against Alexander Zverev in the final of ATP Munich.

Roberto Bautista Agut had to fight back from a set down to beat the American youngster, Jared Donaldson, in the first round, 6-7 6-4 6-4.
The usually reliable Spaniard has suffered some uncharacteristic defeats in 2018 such as against Michael Mmoh in Miami, Cameron Norrie in Davis Cup and Julien Benneteau in Marseille. But this will still go down as a great start to the season having lifted two titles at Auckland and Dubai (the biggest title of his career).
Bautista Agut has played three second-round matches here at the Madrid Masters and managed to win all three, against Fernando Verdasco in 2014, Sam Querrey in 2015 and Feliciano Lopez in 2016.
