Irina-Camelia Begu vs Shuai Peng Tennis Prediction
In their first encounter, Begu is expected to roll over Peng, considering the Chinese’s poor form. Moreover, Peng, who made her debut at Rome in 2005, has played nine editions of the tournaments and has suffered seven first-round losses.
Irina-Camelia Begu News
Irina-Camelia Begu is a former semifinalist of Internazionali BNL d’Italia, reaching the final four in 2016 (d. Azarenka and Kasatkina). She has also defeated the likes of Kerber and Radwanska on her debut appearance in 2015 to reach the third round.
Begu lifted her fourth WTA title last year on her home soil at Bucharest, defeating Julia Goerges in straight sets (6-3 7-5). It was her first career trophy on clay as the previous ones have been all on hard-courts, Florianopolis, Seoul, and Tashkent.
The Romanian has gone 6-3 in this clay season, with includes a semifinal run at Istanbul Cup and a win over the reigning French Open champion Ostapenko at Madrid (l. Sharapova). The win against Ostapenko was her sixth top 10 win, first since June 2016.

Last week, she drew the two-time slam champion Muguruza in the first round of Madrid Open. In the clash against the top-ranked Spaniard, which lasted little over 90 minutes, the former Chinese #1 eventually lost, 6-4 6-2.
