Alison Van Uytvanck News

Alison Van Uytvanck fell to Kontaveit in the qualifying rounds of Miami last year, but this time around, she returns to the tournament ranked #51, which is good enough for a main draw berth.
Van Uytvanck won her second career title at Budapest last month, by defeating Buzarnescu, Zhang Shuai, and Dominika Cibulkova in the final. She won her first one at Quebec City less than six months ago, upsetting Timea Babos in the final.
Van Uytvanck is the lowest-ranked player to win a title so far in 2018 (#80). Playing the first Premier Mandatory of the year at the Indian Wells last fortnight, she lost to Yulia Putintseva in a see-saw three-set match.

Katerina Bondarenko News

Katerina Bondarenko has also won an International title in the recent months, at Tashkent (Uzbekistan), by defeating #52 Babos in the final, while being ranked #133. It was also her first title since Birmingham 2008 when the Ukrainian was just 21-year-old.
Bondarenko blew past Hogenkamp, Wickmayer, and Tomljanovic, but was denied the $125k title by Sara Errani at the Oracle Challenger earlier this month (4-6 2-6).
Bondarenko doesn’t have a spectacular record at Miami. Since 2007 (when she made the main draw debut), Bondarenko has appeared in the second round four times but has never managed to advance further.
