Tennis Prediction

David Goffin leads the H2H 4-1, and he is on a four-match winning run against Sousa, but the Portuguese was able to snatch a set in three of those four defeats. Sousa seems to be gathering some momentum after going through a rough patch over the past five months or so, combined with David Goffin’s current situation (first match in over a month and first of the season in the USA) gives Sousa a decent chance in this match.

David Goffin News

David Goffin returns to action for the first time since retiring from his semifinal match at Rotterdam with an eye injury. The Belgian did not play a competitive match for one month and six days.
The World #9 Goffin was having his best week of the season at Rotterdam, but unfortunately, he could not continue with his semifinal match (vs. Grigor Dimitrov). Before entering ATP Rotterdam, his form in 2018 was nowhere close to how he ended his 2017 season (runner-up at WTF and two wins in the Davis Cup Finals).
Goffin has so far won ten matches in 2018, including his wins in the Hopman Cup and Davis Cup but his performance in most of those matches was far from convincing. He was beaten by Julien Benneteau, Pablo Carreno Busta, and Richard Gasquet, and even dropped a set against Matthias Bachinger and Marton Fucsovics.
The Belgian #1 is a former semifinalist here (2016), and he also reached the round of 16 at the Miami Open in 2017.

Joao Sousa News

For the first time in seven matches, Joao Sousa finished a match in straight sets and managed to end up on the winning side as well. He defeated the in-form Ryan Harrison in straight sets to progress into the second round of the Miami Open for the second time in two years.
The win against Ryan Harrison was Sousa’s sixth win of the season (6/7) and only his second win in straight sets. The Portuguese was playing too many rollercoaster matches in the recent weeks, and he would be relieved after being able to close out the match in straight sets.
Joao Sousa has won two of his previous three second-round matches here at the Miami Open (2014 and 2016), but lost the recent one to Fabio Fognini in 2017. Follow this tennis betting tips and strategy to win big profits!
