Shapovalov received a kind draw at the Indian Wells earlier this month, but the teenager could not make the most of it, as he faced a disappointing second-round exit at the hands of Pablo Cuevas.
It was in an ATP Masters 1000 event where the Canadian announced his arrival (since started playing in tour events) in 2017. Shapovalov defeated the likes of Del Potro, Rafael Nadal, and Adrian Mannarino before losing to Alexander Zverev in the semifinal of Montreal Masters.
However, Shapovalov has made an average start to the season for someone who won nearly 100 matches and six titles in the previous two seasons. Apart from progressing to the semifinal at Delray Beach, he has failed to win consecutive matches in any of the six tournaments that he entered so far in 2018.

Viktor Troicki is struggling to win matches at the moment (2018 W/L- 4/7) and apart from progressing to the quarterfinal at ATP Sofia earlier in February (weak draw), Viktor Troicki has failed to advance beyond the second round in the other six tournaments that he entered in 2018, including four first-round exits at Doha, Sydney, Dubai and Indian Wells.
Except 2014, the Serbian entered Miami Open every year since 2007 and only twice he returned without registering a win, in 2007 (Frank Dancevic, Canadian Opponent) and 2010 (David Nalbandian). He defeated a left-handed opponent in his first-round match here in 2017, Thiago Monteiro.
