Grigor Dimitrov vs David Goffin Tennis Prediction

Grigor Dimitrov holds an unassailable H2H record against David Goffin (10-1) including winning their recent three meetings. He also won all their previous three meetings on clay (all in 2010). Dimitrov and Goffin had their own fitness issues in the recent three months and are not playing at their best level since returning from the break, which makes it difficult to pick a winner here.

David Goffin News

The last time these two players met, David Goffin suffered a freak eye injury and was forced to retire during the semifinal match of ATP Rotterdam in February 2018. It looked pretty severe and painful that even his opponent Dimitrov was worried, “Saw him right after, a little bit of a shock how he felt. It was not pretty what I saw. But he’s in the hospital right now. We are trying to help with whatever we can on site. I hope the exams and everything goes well.” – said the Bulgarian after that semifinal match.
After staying away from action for nearly a month, David Goffin returned to tour in Miami last month where he suffered a humiliating opening round defeat at the hands of Joao Sousa, 0-6 1-6. However, based on his performance against Roberto Bautista Agut on Thursday, the Belgian #1 is back to his best.
David Goffin is defending the semifinal points at Monte Carlo this week. In 2017, he defeated Dominic Thiem in the round of 16 and Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinal before losing to the eventual Champion Rafael Nadal in the semifinal.

Grigor Dimitrov News

Dimitrov and Goffin teamed up in the doubles discipline at the Monte Carlo Masters this week and are going strong, having defeated Ivan Dodig and Rajeev Ram in the round of 16.
A day after accidentally injuring David Goffin’s eye in Rotterdam (SF), Grigor Dimitrov entered the final carrying an injury and went down cheaply in straight sets against Roger Federer. Since then, he suffered three early round exits at Dubai (R1), Indian Wells (lost in the second round, R1 bye) and Miami (lost in the third round, R1 bye).
For the second time in two days, the Bulgarian #1 had to fight back from a set down to secure his progression at the Monte Carlo Masters, against Pierre Hughes Herbert (R2) and Philipp Kohlschreiber (R16).
Dimitrov has made the quarterfinal here twice in the past but ended up losing both of them, against Rafel Nadal in 2013 (three sets) and Gael Monfils in 2015 (straight sets).
While Goffin has played two quarterfinals and won both of them in 2018 (Montpellier and Rotterdam), Grigor Dimitrov made three but lost one, against Kyle Edmund in the Australian Open. He have a very intersting match for today at Monte Carlo: Dimitrov vs Goffin
