Are Brighton now a seasoned Premier League (PL) team? After beating Swansea 4-1 and then beating Arsenal 2-1, it would be hard to argue they are not. But with only 34 points each, Brighton and Everton are just a few losses away from potential relegation.
Both teams are 11 points behind Arsenal who currently occupy the last European League qualification spot (seventh). It is doubtful either team will mount a challenge at this stage of the season, but Brighton will just be happy stay in the PL after their promotion last year.
After game week 30 last season Everton were seventh and finished seventh. With high hopes for the season after an injection of cash, the ‘Toffees’ sold their top goalscorer Lukaku and appointed survival-specialist Sam Allardyce; a much needed rebuild for next season is on the cards – potentially Allardyce-less if Everton’s stagnant form continues.
Earning four penalties this season, Brighton could well take advantage of Everton’s weakened defence after their captain Ashley Williams received a red card in their previous fixture, and faces a likely three game ban.
Before the reverse fixture, both teams earnt seven points (W2, D1, L4). Everton managed to save a point in the 90th minute with a penalty. Now five games unbeaten (W3, D2, L0), Brighton fans are hopeful of a win in the blue-half of Merseyside.
Soccer Picks Players : The ever-reliable Brighton veteran Glenn Murray has scored 11 goals this season and is on a great run-of-form with six goals in his last six games.
Former Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney is still putting goals away. He’s Everton’s top scorer with ten goals and two assists. But “Wazza” is yet to score in 2018!
Soccer Picks Strategy: Everton have only lost one home game in their last five (W2, D2, L1) – 11 goals were produced, with an average of 2.2 goals per game.
Brighton have not won an away game in the PL since November. Since then, they have played eight games (W0, D3, L5) and in six of those games they failed to score.
