Incredible 30 tons of strawberries and cream will be on sale at the stalls of the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club during the two weeks of Wimbledon. Spectators enjoy these high-class and exciting matches, and one of them will be on Thursday in the second round of the men’s competition between American Steve Johnson and Australian Alex De Minaur. The Aussie is ranked number 25, but disappointed in his final preparation tournament in Queens. Johnson was at least solid in his three grass-preparation tournaments, but by no means outstanding. However, in time for the absolute highlight of the season, both now seem to be gaining momentum.

Johnson vs. De Minaur Tennis Betting Tips

Steve Johnson – Statistics & Current Form

Current ranking in the world rankings: 71.

Steve Johnson has already had much better times in which he was just before the jump into the top 20. Due to numerous defeats in 2019, he was flushed back from his Career High, 21st place, exactly 50 places to 71th place in the ATP World Ranking List. With a match balance of 8-15 in the current calendar year, this is not surprising. Keep in mind, however, that the US hard court season, which is by far the Californian’s favorite, is still ahead of us.

After an expected weak clay court season (the red ash is Johnson of all surfaces least) with a match score of 2-5, he presented himself on lawn significantly better. In Stuttgart he retired although already in the first round, but this very unfortunate and after a good performance against Gael Monfils with 5: 7 7: 5 6: 7 (6: 8). It was an annoying defeat, as he was already in break decision break before and also awarded a match point. Nevertheless, his performance seemed to boost him, as he then defeated in Hall Philipp Kohlschreiber surprisingly smooth with 6: 3 6: 3, before he failed to Alexander Zverev. Also in Eastbourne he survived by a victory against his 211 cm compatriot Reilly Opelka a round, but then had to strike against the up and coming Poland Hubert Hurkacz the sails.

In Wimbledon he did not bother in the first round against the Spaniard Albert Ramos and confidently won 6: 4 6: 2 6: 3. He did not have to break the whole match and made 85% of the time when his first serve came. If he can keep this odds and also establish a first rate of 65-70%, De Minaur will have a hard time against him.

Johnson vs. De Minaur Tennis Betting Tips

Alex De Minaur – Statistics & Current Form

Current ranking in the world rankings: 29.

Alex De Minaur is a player who gets along well on all floor coverings. In addition to clay courts, where he enjoyed most of his tennis education (the Australian spent a few years in Spain in childhood), his speed and agility-based game is well on Hardcourt well. However, he mentions turf as his favorite surfacing and was able to demonstrate his talent for the underground last year at the Challenger grass season when he won the tournament in Nottingham and was also in the final in Surbiton.

De Minaur stands out among the numerous emerging “Young Guns”, as he is one of the youngest among them at 20 years old. Last year, he made a huge leap in the world rankings and climbed from outside the top 200 to the top 30. His mentor Lleyton Hewitt, whose irrepressible will to win and his almost unparalleled passion for the game, fascinated him and whose experiences he seems to absorb like a sponge, helped him a lot, just like his idol at an extremely young age Number 1 is. In addition, he is mentally immensely strong and always remains self-confident and aggressive in tight game situations.

This year, his match record of 13:10 is neat, based mainly on his two strong first months of the year. In this period, he also succeeded his first and so far only tournament victory on the ATP Tour. He was able to take this in Sydney in impressive style because he gave against his opponents Dusan Lajovic, Reilly Opelka, Jordan Thompson, Gilles Simon and Andreas Seppi throughout the tournament not a single sentence. However, looking at the development since March, this is already much less convincing, with four first-round defeats in a row and a score of 2-7.

Maybe that’s why De Minaur decided not to play a third pre-season tournament on grass in the week before Wimbledon, but rather to train again intensively to get close to the Wimbledon kick-off again to approach his top form. His start to the tournament was also extremely impressive, because he decided his first set of the tournament against Marco Cecchinato – after all, the number 41 in the world rankings – with 6: 0 for themselves. He even led 3-0 with 6-0, but then the Italian was always better in the match, so that the game became ever narrower. Ultimately, however, the Australian saved the bottom line with 3: 0 sets (6: 0 6: 4 7: 6) across the finish line.

All relevant stats of the encounter are very positive for De Minaur (69% first serve, 74% of the points after the first serve, 55% of the points after the second serve, 88% repelled breakballs, 63% transformed breakballs). We therefore share the prediction of the bookmakers who expect a close match in the match Steve Johnson against Alex De Minaur, but see the Aussie narrowly favored.

Johnson vs. De Minaur – Head to Head Statistics

Steve Johnson and Alex De Minaur have met twice in their careers at ATP level. Both times, as their paths crossed, the Australian retained the upper hand. On lawn, however, the two opponents had not yet the pleasure, so this is this year’s second Wimbledon round in this regard, a premiere. The two previous, played on hard court, best-of-three encounters could decide De Minaur with tight two-set victories for themselves. Steve Johnson, however, was in the first meeting in Brisbane a variety of brilliant opportunities and forgave, for example, in the first sentence there five set balls.

🎾 03.08.2018 – De Minaur Vs. Johnson 6-4 7-5 (Washington, Hard Court)
🎾 31.12.2017 – De Minaur Vs. Johnson 7-6 6-4 (Brisbane, Hard Court)

Steve Johnson vs Alex De Minaur Tennis Betting Tips Explained

In the match Steve Johnson vs Alex De Minaur finds it hard to get a hint about the winner for several reasons. With Johnson meets a formally weak in 2019 player with De Minaur on an actor who also presented himself in the last four months out of shape. Both, however, were in the first round of the current Wimbledon tournament no nakedness and remained without a set loss. The world ranking position speaks for the Australian, the best grass performance in 2019, however, put the Americans in his smooth victory over Philipp Kohlschreiber in Halle down.

As already mentioned, we see as the bookmakers De Minaur fiercely favored, but find due to the expected tight and exciting gameplay another bet more attractive. Anyone who dares to bet on De Minaur against Johnson for playing at least 41 games in the match will even get a higher odds than De Minaur, although this bet does not seem to make us any less confident.

Key Facts – Steve Johnson vs Alex De Minaur tips

⭐️ Weak year 2019: De Minaur is only ranked 50th in the ATP Race, Johnson not even in the top 100
⭐️ Both put on a very sovereign appearance in the first round
⭐️ All four so far played out between the two played at ATP tournaments were relatively close

For a victory of the US boys offer the bookmakers in the match Steve Johnson. Alex De Minaur odds up to 2.25. For the success of the Australian there are maximum odds of 1.75. As for the winner of the match, we are struggling with a clear prediction, but we are convinced that it will be a close match, in which no player will prevail smoothly in three sets. Already on Hardcourt, all the sets ever played between the two were scarce. Never were less than ten games necessary for each sentence decision.
Assuming that the encounter does not end in three sentences, but at least four sets are played and still uses at least ten games per set, you would be calculated at 40 games. It should be noted, however, that on lawns the rates are much more likely to exceed 5: 5 than hard courts. That it comes at least to a tiebreak, we think is very likely. With in this case already 13 played games in one set, average set results in further three sets are already sufficient, so that the bet is won. A score such as 6: 3 6: 7 6: 3 6: 4 is enough to make the bet victorious (not to mention a possible five-point match).

We therefore recommend at the Wimbledon second round match Steve Johnson. Alex De Minaur odds “over 40.5 games” at odds of 1.83 and suggested placing five units on that bet as a bet.
