Norway vs Serbia Betting Predictions and Odds – Euro 2021 playoffs

Does Haaland shoot down the Serbs single-handedly?

Competition: Euro 2021 Playoffs

The group stage of the European Championship next year has long been drawn. The final starting field has not yet been determined. Among other things, the German national team is still waiting for their last group opponent. There are four tickets in total, all of which will be awarded on November 12th.

Two national teams that have legitimate hopes for participating in EURO 2021 are Norway and Serbia. A prediction for the direct duel of these teams in the playoff semifinals on Thursday evening is accordingly difficult. The fact is that in the final the winner will meet the winner of the match between Scotland and Israel and would ultimately have England, Croatia and the Czech Republic in front of their chests in the preliminary round of the European Championship.

If we believe the odds of the best bookmakers between Norway and Serbia, then the slight advantages lie with the home side, who of course have an absolute guarantee of victory in their own ranks in Erling Haaland. But that’s not all, because the strong performance at the 5: 1 in September in Northern Ireland gave the Scandinavians a lot of self-confidence.

In contrast, the Serbs did not cover themselves with glory against Russia (1: 3) and at home against Turkey (0: 0). The existing potential is undisputed and yet we remain sceptical whether the Tumbakovic team can access this in a “do-or-die” game in a foreign country of all places. After all, between Norway and Serbia, the tip on a final entry for Northern Europeans promises the more attractive value at first glance.

Norway – Statistics & current form

The Norwegian national team has only been able to qualify for a European championship once. In 2000 the Vikings secured the ticket for the finals in Belgium and Holland but were eliminated there with one win, one draw and one defeat in the preliminary round.

20 years later, the Scandinavians are aiming for the next participation. Lars Lagerbäck’s team has 180 minutes left. On Thursday, the semi-final against Serbia has to be victorious in order to finally be able to complete the playoff final against Scotland or Israel in November. Incidentally, the Northern Europeans earned the playoffs by first place in the Nations League group C3, which was bagged with four wins in six games.

Norway with only two bankruptcies in their last 16 games

The Swedish coach for the Norwegians is definitely one of the fathers of success. Since taking office in 2017, the national team has improved to 44th place in the world rankings and has only suffered seven defeats in 31 games. The current condition can also be described as good because only two of the last 16 matches were lost.

Last month, the Norwegians lost 2-1 at home to Austria for the first time in a long time, but only reciprocated a few days later at 5-1 in Northern Ireland. This result makes it clear that the offensive with Haaland, Sörlöth and Ödegaard, in particular, has an enormous amount of individual quality. Despite the outstanding individual talent, the team impresses as a functioning collective and provides enough arguments to make a prediction on the hosts between Norway and Serbia.

The probable lineup of Norway:
↳ Jarstein; Elabdellaoui, Ajer, Reginiussen, Aleesami; Henriksen, Johansen; Odegaard, Elyounoussi; Sorloth, Haaland

Serbia – Statistics & current form

A few years ago, the Serbian national team was still a promise of the future. They have not redeemed this to this day. The Serbs have not made the final leap from a talented to a world-class team. This became clear again when the Eastern Europeans only finished third behind Portugal and Ukraine in the European Championship qualification and even conceded more goals (17) than Luxembourg (16) in eight matches.

Fortunately, the team of coach Tumbakovic, who is by no means undisputedly doing his job in the extremely critical homeland, can still fall back on the group success of the Nations League premiere and therefore still has the opportunity to take part in a European Championship as an independent nation for the very first time.

Is the vulnerable defence becoming a big problem?

However, this requires an enormous increase in performance compared to the two games in September. Above all, the 1: 3 in Russia once again revealed the deficits in the game against the ball. Although the defence held tight a few days later in the 0-0 home draw against Turkey, the guest again fired 14 shots on goal and in the end, had almost 60% possession.

The demands in Serbia are completely different, which is why – despite the disadvantage of having to play away – the greater pressure felt on the shoulders of the Tumbakovic men. In connection with the mentioned impressions of the last matches, the value between Norway and Serbia is hidden in the odds of a home win or at least progress.

The probable lineup of Serbia:
↳ Dmitrovic; Maksimovic, Milenkovic, Kolarov; Lazovic, Milinkovic-Savic, Gudelj, Djuricic; Tadic, Ljajic; Mitrovic

Norway vs Serbia – Direct comparison / H2H balance

With the exception of two less relevant friendlies in 2004 and 2006, the two teams have never faced each other. While the most recent direct duel ended with a 1: 1, two years earlier Norway prevailed with 1: 0. So the Serbs are still waiting for their first international win against the Vikings.

Norway vs Serbia Betting Predictions and Odds by PicksSoccer Experts

While the Nations League is seen by many of Europe’s top nations as just a competition that must be played at the request of UEFA, there will be at least four teams in November that will thank the continental football association for introducing the controversial new format, namely exactly those four selection teams that will still make the jump to EURO 2021 via the playoffs.

In one of two semi-finals in Division C, Norway and Serbia face each other in front of empty stands on Thursday evening in Oslo. According to the betting odds, a match at eye level awaits us, in which at least no clear favourite can be established. However, we see the advantages on the side of the home side and not just because of Erling Haaland.

Key facts – Norway vs Serbia tips

⭐️ Norway has only lost two of their last 16 internationals
⭐️ Serbia presented itself very weakly in the September doubles
⭐️ The Serbs have never won an international match against the Vikings

On the one hand, in Lars Lagerbäck, the Vikings have a trainer at their side who, at 72 years of age, has already gained a lot of experience in similar situations. On the other hand, the Scandinavians have only lost two of their last 16 international matches. In addition, the Serbs did not convince us at all in the end. 17 goals conceded in eight qualifying games also underscore the defensive vulnerability of the Eastern Europeans.

We are therefore convinced that the home team will make it into the final and decide between Norway and Serbia for the tip on the “To-Qualify” market in favour of the Lagerbäck team.
