Cirstea and Hsieh have met once on the grass court of Eastbourne (2017), where Hsieh defeated Cirstea 7-6 6-1. Moreover, Hsieh has won twice as many matches in 2018 as Cirstea, making this a tough challenge for the Romanian.

Sorana Cirstea News

Sorana Cirstea’s seven-match winning streak against the American opponents was snapped when she lost to #8 Venus Williams in the second round of Indian Wells, 6-3 6-4, last fortnight.
Cirstea’s season has been lackluster so far with a 6/7 record. She has won back-to-back matches at one tournament (Doha), defeating Sakkari and Mertens. The win against Mertens was her season’s first Top 20 win.
Cirstea doesn’t have a spectacular record at Miami, but she reached the fourth round once in 2013, by defeating Kerber in the third round. Last year, she reached the third round defeating Puig and Sevastova.

Su-Wei Hsieh News

Su-Wei Hsieh defeated the British qualifier, Katie Boulter in straight sets, 6-4 7-5 to register her second-ever Miami main draw win. The first one came five years ago in 2013 when she defeated Tsurenko, 6-4 7-6 in the first round (17-15 in tiebreaker).
Hsieh has recovered her rank from outside Top 100 to her current position of #61 in a matter of three months. This became possible thanks to her semifinal run at Auckland and round of 16 at Melbourne (defeated Muguruza and Radwanska).
This month, Hsieh won the Indian Wells doubles title alongside Barbora Strycova (first title since April 2017, Biel).

Tennis Prediction: Sorana Cirstea to win
Odds: 1.88
