Lugano – Statistics & Current Form
In October 2018 Fabio Celestini returned to the Betreuerbank. The long-time coach of Lausanne-Sports took over the duties of young Spanish coach Guillermo Abascal in Lugano. The only 29-year-old (!) Had to pack his bags after 19 competitive games with an average of 1.42 points per game. His successor Celestini has been responsible for 14 competitive games for Lugano, but has a much weaker cut. With four wins and four draws Celestini comes to only 1.14 points per game. The primary goal at Lugano is the league. Due to the weakening competition and the lead of five points (in tenth place) and four points (on relegation place nine) Celestini is not in the criticism. A look at the last competitive games is not necessarily positive. With the exception of the 3: 0 victory against FC Lucerne on 16 February, there were almost only setbacks to cope with. The success in the swissporaena of Lucerne was the only victory in the last ten competitive games! While the form of FC Thun can be described as quite positive, the shape curve of Lugano shows clearly downwards. This is not changed by a close, unfortunate 0-1 defeat to champions YBB (conceding in minute 93).
Against the sovereign leader of the league Lugano was mainly occupied with defensive tasks and could rarely put accents forward. The FC Thun may not be as dominant as the Young Boys, but it is feared that Lugano can probably create only a few opportunities for goal. To make matters worse, Celestini has to change the well-functioning four-chain from the YBB game. Center-back Mijat Maric was carried away seconds after the bitter goal to assassinate and will miss the Cup fight. The failure of the 34-year-old weighs heavily, because on the defensive alternatives are sown extremely rare.
The last away games were won, but the success in Lucerne was only the second away win in the eleventh game. The 2-4-5 balance is clearly negative. Due to the weak form and the Maric lock is in the cup match between Thun and Lugano a tip on the outsider by no means recommended.
