Most of the fourth main round in the 2020/21 FA Cup was played on Saturday and Sunday. Head coach Jose Mourinho’s team will only be in action on Monday evening. The Spurs are considered by the best bookmakers as a huge favourite in the duel between second division Wycombe and Tottenham.

Wycombe vs Tottenham Betting Predictions and Odds - FA Cup 2021

Even if the trophy often writes unusual stories, there were no big surprises in the first games of the fourth round. Definitely, such a surprise, if not sensation, if Wycombe’s home win against Tottenham were crowned with success. In this case, the betting base odds comparison provides betting odds in the double-digit range.

This assessment is not really surprising, after all, this game is the duel of the bottom of the championship against a Champions League contender. The game for this unequal comparison starts on Monday evening in Adams Park.

Wycombe – Statistics & Current Form

The Buckinghamshire football club was founded back in 1887, but it would be until 2020 before the club was represented in the championship for the first time in club history. In the final game for promotion, the “Chairboys” (Wycombe is known for the furniture industry located there) were able to defeat Oxford United and fix this historic success.

Relegation hardly realistic

If no medium-sized football miracle happens in the coming weeks and months, the Championship adventure will initially only last 46 match days. The team of long-term coach Gareth Ainsworth (in office since 2013) is last far behind. With only 15 points from 23 games, the deficit on the saving bank is already a proud ten points.

After a catastrophic start to the season, at least a slightly positive trend can be attested to the newcomer. The first seven league games were all lost before Wycombe gradually began to score. However, only one victory in the last 13 league games (five draws, seven defeats).

Whereby the word “last” is not entirely appropriate, because due to several positive test results, the Wycombe Wanderers have not played a competitive game since January 9th. Ainsworth is confident that he will have a large enough squad available, but ideal preparation for a game against a top team is different.

FA Cup semi-finalist 2001

But the underdog has good memories of the oldest cup competition in football history. The last competitive game mentioned was that in the third FA Cup main round when league rivals Preston North End were defeated 4-1.

The Chairboys achieved their greatest success 20 years ago when the journey of success was only stopped in the semi-finals. A repetition of this success is virtually impossible. Given the weak Wycombe offensive (16 goals in 23 games) even one hit would be a small success. Between Wycombe and Tottenham are currently offered odds around 1.75.

The probable lineup of Wycombe:
Allsop – Jacobson, Tafazolli, Knight, Grimmer – Mehmeti, Thompson, Wheeler – Horgan, Ikepazu, McCleary

Last matches from Wycombe:

FA Cup
01/09 2021 Wycombe 4 – 1 Preston
Championship
01/02 2021 Wycombe 1 – 3 Middlesboro
12/29 2020 Wycombe 2 – 1 Cardiff
12/26 2020 Bristol City 2 – 1 Wycombe
12/19 2020 Wycombe 1 – 1 Queens Park Rangers

Tottenham – Statistics & Current Form

The mini-crisis in the Spurs camp has now been overcome after Jose Mourinho’s team failed to win five times in a row (three draws, two defeats). This series pushed Tottenham from the top of the table but was able to return to the road to success with two wins. With a catch-up game in hand, Mourinho could overtake Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool FC.

No failures in the FA Cup

Before the top game in the Premier League against champions Liverpool takes place next Thursday, the focus will be on the FA Cup. Jose Mourinho will accordingly give his top stars a break, but this is by no means an excuse for a possible failure.

Mourinho is success-oriented and he will not negligently gamble away the chance of winning the title. In addition, a look at history shows that Tottenham is a veritable bank in the FA Cup against lower-class opponents. In 20 of the last 21 duels of this type, Tottenham Hotspurs celebrated a favourite victory. The only exception was the 2012/13 season when Tottenham Leeds had to admit defeat.

The expected rotation has already been mentioned, but a look at the probable line-up shows what quality is still in the ranks of the Spurs. Real loan Gareth Bale still has problems at his old place of work but will get another chance in the cup.

The same goes for striker Carlos Vinicius, the Brazilian can’t get past the outstanding duo Kane / Son in the league but did convince with a hat trick in the 5-0 win against Marine in the third main round. Between Wycombe and Tottenham, however, betting odds of around 1.60 are only offered for a goal by the 25-year-old Brazilian.

A bet on Lucas Moura could be interesting here. Since his debut in the FA Cup (February 2018) he has collected nine scorers in eleven games. During this period, no other Tottenham player has collected more scorer points in the oldest cup competition in the world.

The probable lineup of Tottenham:
Hart – Davies, Alderweireld, Rodon, Doherty – Fernandes, White – Alli, Lucas Moura, Bale – Carlos Vinicius

Last matches from Tottenham:

Premier League
01/17 2021 Sheffield United 1 – 3 Tottenham
01/13 2021 Tottenham 1 – 1 Fulham
FA Cup
01/10 2021 Marine 0 – 5 Tottenham
Carabao Cup
01/05 2021 Tottenham 2 – 0 Brentford
Premier League
01/02 2021 Tottenham 3 – 0 Leeds

Wycombe vs Tottenham – Direct comparison / H2H balance

For the second time in the club’s more than 130-year history, the Wycombe Wanderers will have the honour of playing an FA Cup game against Tottenham Hotspurs on Monday evening. In the 2016/17 season, the Spurs had to fight hard and tremble tremendously to avert the embarrassment against the then fourth division.

A 0: 2 deficit could be equalized with a double strike, in the final phase the Spurs conceded another goal and with another double strike in minutes 89 and 90 the lucky 4: 3 victory was fixed.

Wycombe vs Tottenham Betting Predictions and Odds by PicksSoccer Experts

The duel four years ago is remembered by Spurs supporters. Once again, the Buckinghamshire team is not taken lightly, especially since the team is now represented in the championship. However, this does not change the blatant outsider role.

If the favourite plays this game with the necessary concentration, the only question that arises is the amount of victory. There are no doubts at Wycombe against Tottenham about the prediction of the favourite’s progress.

Key facts – Wycombe vs Tottenham tips

  • The championship debutant is already ten points behind the saving bank
  • In 2016/17, Tottenham prevailed by a wafer 4: 3 in the FA Cup
  • Tottenham has won 20 of the last 21 FA Cup duels against underclass opponents

Although the only duel so far was a true shooting festival, the tip on the under 3.5 seems to be the best choice on Monday evening between Wycombe and Tottenham. Of course, the Tottenham offensive has the quality to score many goals.

The Chairboys from Wycombe will focus on their own defence due to the weak offensive (only 16 goals have been scored so far). Accordingly, the Tottenham win is likely, but four goals are not expected.
