Mikael Ymer is one of the five players to have received a wildcard at the Miami Open this week. The Swede will now play his first match on tour since ATP Stockholm in 2017, where he received a wildcard but faced a first round exit (vs. Mischa Zverev).
The 19-year-old Ymer won six matches at ITF Bakersfield last week (as a qualifier) before losing his semifinal match to the top seed and eventual title winner Mathias Bourgue in straight sets.
Mikael Ymer has won at least three matches in four of the five tournaments that he entered so far in 2018 (three Challenger and two ITF). He also won two Davis Cup singles rubber against Sergiy Stakhovsky and Artem Smirnov.
Ymer’s previous and only appearance in an ATP Masters 1000 event came here at Miami in 2017 (as a wildcard) where he lost his first-round match to Robin Haase in straight but close sets, 5-7 6-7.

Jan Lennard Struff started the season in a positive way by defeating the former World #4 Tomas Berdych in Doha, but since then, the German has won just two matches which came against the opponents that are struggling to win matches at the moment, Kwon Soon Woo and Andreas Haider Maurer.
Struff failed to win a match in Masters 1000 event (MD and Q) for the first time since the Indian Wells 2015 when he lost to Alex de Minaur at the Indian Wells two weeks back. He has never returned from Miami without winning a match (four appearances) and reaching the third round in 2017 is his best result at Miami.
