Alize Cornet News

Alize Cornet has played eight tournaments in the first three months of 2018 but could not win two matches in a row since the Australian swing. She will now begin her clay season from Charleston for the first time since 2011.
Cornet has played in the South Carolinian city just twice in her career. She debuted in 2008 at the age of 18 when she lost to the eventual champion, Serena Williams, in the semifinals.
During 2010-2013, Cornet used to win double-digit number clay matches in a season. In last four years, her clay W/L has remained in the negative zone for the most part (combined clay wins during 2014-2017 is same as what came in 2013 alone).

Kateryna Bondarenko News

Kateryna Bondarenko is coming to Charleston after losing out the longest main draw match of her season (two hours and 23 minutes) to Van Uytvanck in the first round of Miami Open.
She played her first American tournament of the season at the Oracle Challenger (Indian Wells $125k event) where she defeated Wickmayer and Tomljanovic before losing the final to Sara Errani in straight sets.
The 31-year-old has appeared in the tournament on five previous occasions but has never been able to advance beyond the second round.

Tennis Prediction: Alize Cornet to win the match
Odds: 1.60
