Does teenager Andreescu continue her high-flying? Read our full tennis tips below and find out all the information you need to know!
Unpredictable and therefore very exciting is the ladies tennis in these months. Before the start of the tournament in Flushing Meadows several ladies had the chance to be the number one in the world at the end. Many players move on a similar level without dominating players like the men. Even before the quarter-finals, the question of the number one is clear, because the top four have all already canceled the sails.
Andreescu vs Mertens Tennis Betting Tips
Serena Williams can still dream of Grand Slam title number 24, she is in the round of the last eight, the only player who knows the feeling of a Grand Slam triumph. The youngest player is Canadian Bianca Andreescu, who defeated local hero Taylor Townsend in straight sets. In the quarter-finals, it comes now to a duel between Bianca Andreescu and Elise Mertens, in which, according to current odds, the Canadian gets the role of favorite.
Andreescu is in New York for the first time in the last eight and has already secured a place in the top ten of the world in the current WTA live ranking. The current season can definitely be described as a breakout season for the 19-year-old. With Elise Mertens she meets a player who also plays her best tennis this year. In contrast to Andreescu she was even in a GS semi-final – at the Australian Open last year. The European is more experienced, but the teenager from Canada has to be classified more strongly.
Bianca Andreescu – Statistics & Current Form
Current ranking in the world rankings: 15.
Position in the seedling list: 15
On December 31 of the previous year Bianca Andreescu was only ranked 152 in the women’s tennis world rankings. At that time, it was by no means clear that the teenager will deliver such an outstanding season this year. Her name suggests that she has European ancestry, her parents come from Romania, but are located in a suburb of Toronto. She started playing tennis early on, dominating her as a teenager.
The switch to the big tour succeeded her right away. Already in the previous year, she was able to record a clearly positive balance, although she was often seen in second-rate tournaments. The final breakthrough came right at the beginning of the new year. In Auckland she marched from qualifying to the final and had to give up there Julia Goerges beaten.
She was able to confirm this success in the sequel and celebrated her biggest career success at the big tournament in Indian Wells. A little later, however, she injured herself and was forced to pause for almost two months. A comeback attempt was at the French Open, but after a game she had to give up again and another pause followed.
This time, she gave her young body enough time to recover completely before returning home in Toronto – and how. She celebrated her second major tournament victory and thus played in the extended favorites circles in Flushing Meadows. So far, she has been able to fill this role and act with extremely powerful play.
Andreescu, who has a reputation as a drama queen, may not be everybody’s darling, but certainly one of the biggest promises on the WTA tour. Their match record with 42 wins and five defeats is impressive. Apparently they do not know about pressure and nervousness and many bookmakers expect the teenager on Saturday in the grand finale. First, however, it is the Belgian to defeat. Odds of just over 1.50 are offered in the game between Andreescu and Mertens.

Elise Mertens – Statistics & Current Form
Current ranking in the world rankings: 26.
Position in the seedling list: 25
The Belgian can certainly be described as one of the most complete players on the tour. Mertens is not only as successful in the individual as never before, but is also in doubles a dreaded opponent. On the side of the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, she is also in the double competition in the quarterfinals. The duo is set as number four and is therefore considered one of the best double duos. Time for regeneration hardly remains due to the double burden.
However, they still need not necessarily breaks, but their results in the first four games of the US Open were too clear. In no single sentence did she play more than three games. Jil Teichmann, Kristyna Pliskova, Andrea Petkovic and a stricken Kristie Ahn were not the big opponents either. The draw and the course of the tournament therefore meant well with the Belgian.
However, Mertens could not wait for the quarter-finals. Before the US Open, she had to struggle with shoulder problems and was especially handicapped in their own service. There is no sign of it now. A similar walk as before, however, will certainly not happen in the quarterfinals against Andreescu.
Against players who create pressure themselves and want to take over the command, Mertens does, however, usually rather difficult. This also shows a look at the results against powerful players. Before the US Open, for example, there were defeats against Svitolina or Serena Williams. In both games, she was completely hopeless. The current results are deceptive. It certainly is not without chance, but we still see much better chances of success in the match between Andreescu and Mertens in predicting the success of the Canadian.
