Francis Tiafoe is entering Indian Wells after enjoying two successful weeks at the New York Open (QF) and Delray Beach (Winner). The American has won nine matches so far in 2018 with seven of them coming in those two tournaments.
Tiafoe defeated the likes of Juan Martin Del Potro, Hyeon Chung, Denis Shapovalov and Peter Gojowczyk to win his maiden tour title at ATP Delray Beach two weeks back. He took a one week break after the title win and returns to action at the Indian Wells this week.
This will be Francis Tiafoe’s third consecutive appearance at the Indian Wells. He faced a disappointing first-round exit at the hands of Dusan Lajovic in 2017 and will be hoping to do better this time.
Ernesto Escobedo ATP Tennis
Ernesto Escobedo produced some stunning performances in the recent weeks. Entering as a qualifier at Acapulco and New York Open, he won three matches and progressed to the round of 16 in both the tournaments.
Escobedo failed in the qualifying stages of Indian Wells in 2016 and 2017. The 21-year-old American is awarded a wildcard this year which will allow him to make his main draw debut in this event.
