Hyeon Chung vs Matthias Bachinger Tennis Prediction

In this first-ever meeting between these two players, Chung’s lack of match time in the recent weeks could help Bachinger make a quick start, but the Korean has too much quality to let this one slip away.

Matthias Bachinger News

The wildcard entrant Matthias Bachinger registered his first main draw win on tour since Stuttgart 2015 by defeating Mikhail Kukushkin in the first round of ATP Munich on Monday, 7-6 3-6 6-3.
The German previously entered the qualifying stages of Marseille, Rotterdam, Dubai, and Barcelona but could not win a match in any of them.
The last time Matthias Bachinger played a quarterfinal match at this level was at ATP Stockholm in 2014, when he defeated Leonardo Mayer in the round of 16 (R2).
After playing just around 40 matches in 2015 and 2016, the German managed to record 56 match wins in 2017, including two titles (ITF Italy and Gwangju Challenger) and a handful of semifinal appearances.
Bachinger has appeared here 14 times in the past but never managed to progress beyond the round of 16 (R2), losing his previous two R16 matches to Marcos Baghdatis in 2007 and Marin Cilic in 2012.

Hyeon Chung News

Hyeon Chung will play his first match since losing to John Isner in the quarterfinal of the Miami Open in March 2018. This will also be his first match on clay since the French Open 2017.
The Next Gen Champion’s start to the 2018 season has been nothing short of impressive as apart from losing his R16 match in Brisbane (season opener), he has made at least the quarterfinal in all other six tournaments that he entered so far in 2018.
Making his Munich debut in 2017, Hyeon Chung defeated the likes of Maximilian Marterer, Gael Monfils, and Martin Klizan before losing to Guido Pella in the semifinal.

Tennis Prediction: Hyeon Chung 2-0 SET
Odds: 1.60
