Jelena Ostapenko, among the Top 10 players, has won the least amount of matches so far in this season (7). She is yet to win two matches in a row at any WTA tournament. She did, however, reached the third round of the Australian Open, earlier in 2018.
However, despite her poor form, Ostapenko notched up a new career high ranking of #5 after reaching the third round at the Indian Wells, defeating Belinda Bencic.
Ostapenko’s record at Miami is minuscule. She debuted at the tournament in 2016 (qualifying) and made her main draw debut in 2017. However, on both occasions, she could not snatch a win (lost to two Americans, Vickery, and Brengle, respectively).
Timea Babos Tennis Prediction
Timea Babos defeated Mona Barthel in a close straight set encounter, 7-6 6-3, to register her first Miami win since 2016. It was her revenge win over Barthel since the German prevented the Hungarian from defending the home Budapest title in February.
Babos won her third career title (all Internationals) last month by claiming the Taiwan Open, defeating Kozlova in the final (7-5 6-1).
At the Indian Wells, Babos would have arranged a meeting with Ostapenko, if she had defeated Bencic in the first round (instead she lost 1-6 6-1 7-6).
