Martin Klizan vs Mirza Basic Tennis Prediction

The former world #24 Martin Klizan leads the H2H 2-0 including winning their recent meeting in the Davis Cup earlier this season (both in straight sets). Martin Klizan is by far the better player on clay, and he should be able to secure the progression but the fact that he has played too many matches over the past few days could work against him as well.

Mirza Basic News

Mirza Basic made the most of Gael Monfils’ recent fitness struggles (was playing his first match in over a month) by handing the former world #6 a three-set defeat in the first round of ATP Munich. It was also one of the biggest wins of his career.
By defeating Gael Monfils, the Bosnian has ended his brief losing run. He lost his previous three matches to Marco Cecchinato in Budapest, Aljaz Bedene in Monte Carlo (R1, as a lucky loser) and Stefanos Tsitsipas in Monte Carlo (QR1).
This is Mirza Basic’s best result here at ATP Munich as he could not get out of the qualifying stages in his previous two visits, in 2014 and 2016.
Earlier in the season, Mirza Basic made his best start to a season by progressing to the quarterfinal at Doha (as a qualifier) and winning the title at Sofia (as a qualifier). These impressive results have earned him direct entry into the main draw of tour-level events in the recent weeks.

Martin Klizan News

Martin Klizan had to fight back from a set down against a tricky opponent, Florian Mayer, in the first round of ATP Munich on Tuesday, 3-6 6-4 6-3.
It was his third win of the week and the second time he has managed to fight back from a set deficit as he previously defeated Ernests Gulbis in similar fashion in the qualifying stages, 4-6 6-3 6-4.
The Slovakian has now played nine matches in the last ten days and managed to win eight of them, with the only defeat coming against Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinal of ATP Barcelona last week. He came the closest to snatching a set off Nadal in nearly 15 months when he earned himself three set points (on serve) during the second set, 0-6 5-7.
Martin Klizan’s recent record in ATP Munich has been really good. After failing in the qualifying stages of 2008 and 2010 edition, he won the title here in 2014 (as a qualifier) and made the quarterfinal recently in 2017. Try our tennis prediction today: Martin Klizan vs Mirza Basic
