Kristina Mladenovic ended her dreadful 15-match losing streak back in February, but her struggle to be consistent has not gone yet. After losing to #55 Qiang Wang (H2H- 0/3) at Indian Wells, she exited Miami with an opening round loss to Martic.
Moreover, with the arrival of the clay season, she will have to defend a bulk of her ranking points (runner-up at Stuttgart and Madrid, and the quarterfinal at French Open). She is currently ranked at #19, down from #11 at the start of the season.
This is the fourth time that Mladenovic is leading the field of a WTA tournament as the top seed. She had done it already at Tokyo, Moscow, and Zhuhai last year, but those campaigns didn’t last long as she was on her losing streak.

Tamara Korpatsch will play her first WTA main draw of the season after defeating #150 Lottner and #515 In Albon (swiss wildcard) in the qualifying rounds.
