Yannick Maden vs Florian Mayer Tennis Prediction
Yannick Maden will make his second consecutive appearance at ATP Stuttgart this week, thanks to the main draw wildcard. In 2017, he received a qualifying wildcard but was knocked out by a fellow German, Yannick Hanfmann (faces another German on Monday).
Since making his maiden quarterfinal appearance on tour at ATP Budapest, Yannick Maden has played six matches and could win only two of them, against Yuichi Sugita and Denis Novikov. He is currently on a three-match losing run as well.
Yannick Maden has been competing in the pro circuits since 2006, but only in 2017, he played his first-ever match on grass, against Vincent Millot in the qualifying stages of ATP Stuttgart (W).
Florian Mayer, who has won just five matches from 19 outings so far in 2018, enters ATP Stuttgart where he has done reasonably well in the past. In his previous nine appearances in this tournament, he has made the quarterfinals on three occasions, in 2016, 2010 and 2006.
In fact, the experienced German has done well on grass throughout his career. Some of his best results on this surface was winning the ATP Halle title in 2016 and progressing to the quarterfinal of Wimbledon in 2012 and 2006.
These two Germans have never met before. Though Florian Mayer is struggling for form and fitness at the moment, playing on grass gives him an excellent chance to break his four-match losing streak.
