Busta leads the H2H 2-1, including winning their recent two meetings and he also won their only hard court meeting (in Basel 2016, IH). Verdasco has showcased his ability on so many occasions in the past, but Carreno Busta is far more consistent in recent years which makes him a slight favorite in this contest. That said, Fernando Verdasco will fancy his chances if the match goes to the distance as he gets better when the match goes longer.

Fernando Verdasco News

For the second time in two matches, Fernando Verdasco fought back from a set down to secure his progression. After leveling the match (3-6 6-4), the Spaniard won the gripping third set (7-6) that was filled with drama.
During the third round match between Fernando Verdasco and Thanasi Kokkinakis, Nick Kyrgios tweeted (and later deleted), “I hope TK wins this match, Verdasco is the saltiest due, must be frustrated at his past success against Aussies.”
Fernando Verdasco, who could possibly meet Nick Kyrgios in the semifinal of Miami Open, later tweeted (response to NK’s tweet), “@NickKyrgios when you have the courage to put a tweet insulting another player you need to have the same to don’t delete it.”
The Spaniard’s record in this stage of Miami Open stands at 2/1, he lost his recent R16 match to Juan Monaco in 2015 but defeated Marin Cilic in 2010 and Radek Stepanek in 2009.
Verdasco, who seems to be playing much better since finishing as the runner-up at Rio de Janeiro last month, recently made the quarterfinal at the Paris Masters which was also his first Masters quarterfinal since Madrid 2012.

Pablo Carreno Busta News

Pablo Carreno Busta made consecutive Masters round of 16 appearance by defeating Steve Johnson in the third round (6-4 6-4). He lost his R16 match to Kevin Anderson at the Indian Wells earlier this month.
After going through a rough patch over the last five weeks or so, the Spaniard was able to produce two dominant performances (vs. Istomin and Johnson) in Miami which will induce some much-needed confidence in the former World #10.
This is Pablo Carreno Busta’s best result in Miami as he could not win a match here in his previous four appearances, in 2017, 2016, 2015 and 2014.

Tennis Prediction: Pablo Carreno Busta to win the match
Odds: 1.80
