Vegas Golden Knights vs Chicago Blackhawks Betting Predictions and Odds

Will the Blackhawks succeed in the next surprise?

Game: Vegas Golden Knights – Chicago Blackhawks
Competition: NHL Playoffs
Date: 08/12/2020

Stake: 3/10 units

In the shadow of the NBA, the NHL started again and managed to play off all playoff pairings within just two weeks.

The NHL tournament takes place in the two cities of Edmonton (for the Western Conference) and Toronto (for the Eastern Conference). This enabled the league to guarantee that all players would also be in a bubble for a few weeks.

For the Edmonton Oilers around the German superstar, the journey is over before it begins. Responsible for this were the Chicago Blackhawks, who knocked them out 3-1 in the pre-playoffs.

These Blackhawks now face the Vegas Golden Knights in the first round of playoffs, who secured the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.

It remains to be seen whether this new seeding list, which was generated from the few games in the new format, is fair or not, but in any case, some playoff duels would never have been expected.

For example, the Golden Knights and Blackhawks were only No. 3 and No. 12 in the actual regular season, and Chicago would have 99% likely missed the postseason. But since the restart, the Hawks have shown themselves in an outstanding form.

Therefore, we see them as having no chance against the strong Golden Knights and we expect that they will steal one or the other game from the top favorite – possibly even right at the start of the series.

Game no. 1 of this matchup goes on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. Many more NHL tips are now back in the betting base’s program from the playoffs.

Vegas Golden Knights – stats & current form

The Golden Knights are still unbeaten since the restart and they are currently burning off fireworks night after night. However, their slight defensive weakness should not be completely ignored.

After all, they conceded ten hits in this period, regardless of whether Marc-Andre Fleury or Robin Lehner were guarding the box. It will be all the more exciting to see which of the two will be preferred against the Blackhawks.

Title candidate # 1?

If the bookmakers have their way, the Golden Knights are the No. 1 title favorite at the Stanley Cup this year. Their odds are currently around 6.25 and thus lead the list of teams in front of the Avalanche and the Flyers.

We don’t quite trust this status yet, as they did not always act as superior in their last games as the results indicated. Against the Avalanche, for example, they were behind with a total of 26:35 shots.

Even in the 5: 3 against the stars they were 1: 3 behind until ten minutes before the end. The fact that they all won the games in the end, of course, speaks for their toughness in the back.

Efficiency must be maintained

Overall, we see Vegas as the easy favorites against Chicago if they keep their coolness in front of the goal. However, we think that the Blackhawks can cause surprises in individual games.

Already in Game 1, where we reckon that the Hawks could start better after they exhilarated triumph against the Oilers. At Vegas versus Chicago, a tip on the Blackhawks is also a promising affair because of the betting odds.

Possible line-up:

Chicago Blackhawks – stats & current form

The Blackhawks are kind of the dark horse of these playoffs. Just as the twelfth team of the Western Conference slipped into the pre-playoffs, they then shot the “home team” of the Oilers out of the hall.

They presented themselves much better than in February and with 16 hits they are offensively at the top of this list.

Endless experience

With Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, and Brandon Saad, of course, they also have players in their ranks who know how to play playoffs, as they have already won the Stanley Cup several times with Chicago.

When the youngsters like Dominik Kubalik, Alex Debrincat, or Matthew Highmore turn up the pace, then the Hawks can hardly be stopped offensively.

They should now carry and inspire them in game 1, which we believe to be quite a bit, especially at the beginning of the series. Whether they will then really have the consistency to annoy the Golden Knights about a complete series, however, is in the stars.

For Golden Knights vs Blackhawks, our prediction is, therefore, a very tight box, which makes betting on the underdog from Chicago interesting for every game.

Possible line-up:

G: Corey Crawford
D: Duncan Keith
D: Adam Boqvist
LW: Brandon Saad

Vegas Golden Knights vs Chicago Blackhawks Direct comparison

The Golden Knights were able to win four of the last five duels, but two wins only came about after overtime or penalty shootouts. Besides, the conditions were, of course, different than now completely without fans.

So far the Blackhawks have convinced us just as much as the Knights. This also means that we should proceed strategically here and, given the very good odds on the Hawks, we should keep an eye on bets on the underdog.

Alternatively, Vegas vs Chicago also has the odds on over-points an option, as both teams have known very well since the restart where the opposing goal is.

Vegas Golden Knights vs Chicago Blackhawks Betting Predictions and Odds

The Golden Knights would have had the home advantage for Game 1. This advantage does not apply in Edmonton, so we see a pretty even duel coming up. Reason enough to look at Golden Knights vs Blackhawks to risk a tip on Chicago.

Key Facts – Vegas Golden Knights vs Chicago Blackhawks Tips

🏒 Both teams have won three games so far after the restart
🏒 With 5.0 goals per game, the Golden Knights have been the most goal-hungry team since the restart
🏒 The Blackhawks were able to prevail in the pre-playoffs 3-1 against the Oilers

Over-points betting is also very interesting. The Knights have scored an average of 5.0 goals since the restart, the Blackhawks 4.0. So over 6.0 goals is a number that should be easily achieved.
